Stanford University with a Victory

Events have moved fast at Stanford University in the wake of March’s shout-down of a visiting lecturer, a federal judge, by obnoxious and apparently poorly educated law students.

At the event, a “diversity dean” by the name of Tirien Steinbach actually lectured the speaker that he shouldn’t be speaking, referencing a stale cliche of whether the “juice is worth the squeeze.”

Steinback went on leave, and then resigned.

Ousted.

Now, Jenny Martinez, the law school dean who defended free speech in a 5,000-word statement and who properly upbraided the budding authoritarian students, has been named Provost of Stanford University.

This is a major positive development, a model for the country, and harbinger of the movement to restore higher education to the integrity model embodied by the Enlightenment Tradition.
