How to tell the Difference
Much of the faux scholarship of so-called “antiracist” literature betrays the tell-tale indicators of pseudoscience and conspiracy theory, even as the genre seeks legitimacy by mimicking the forms and language of science. It is, in Imre Lakatos’s words, a “pseudoscience.” The doctrines that inform “antiracism” are of the same self-sealing character as Marxism, alchemy, and astrology and seek to insulate the ideology from robust criticism, let alone the notion of falsification.
Here’s a famous talk by Lakatos that limns the major differences between science and pseudoscience and where the line of “demarcation” should be drawn. Offered here are the actual radio address from 1973 followed by the text of his address.
