The First Steps of a DEI Rollback at the University of Michigan

The University of Michigan has always been the toughest nut to crack with respect to rooting out illegal discrimination under the cover of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs.

When other universities began to reconsider their position on DEI in light of US Supreme Court rulings — especially this one — that called into question the use of race as a criterion for college admission, Michigan was expanding its DEI operations.

But in the wake of a devastating New York Times expose on Michigan’s DEI edifice, the school’s Board of Regents decided it was time to relook the school’s array of DEI staff and programs, which is led by Chief Diversity Officer Tabbye Chavous Sellers, whose salary clocks in at $402,000.

Chavous-Sellers of course retorted that the New York Times got it all wrong.

But it seems the DEI tap dance isn’t working as well as it used to.
